HYROX is coming to KL. Here's your protein math.

HiPro Ayam Panggang Cajun chicken meal box

KL gets its first HYROX on 12–13 December 2026, at MITEC. Eight 1 km runs, eight workout stations, no shortcuts. Registration is open and the gyms are already filling their HYROX classes.

That leaves about five months to train. The training plan is your coach's job. The eating is simpler than most people make it — it's arithmetic.

The number that matters

For HYROX-style training — long runs stacked with sled pushes, wall balls and lunges — the working range is 1.6 to 2.2 g of protein per kg of body weight, per day.

  • 60 kg → 96–132 g protein a day
  • 70 kg → 112–154 g
  • 80 kg → 128–176 g

One more thing the guides agree on: HYROX training burns a lot. Eat at least at maintenance. Under-eating through a training block doesn't make you lighter for race day — it makes you weaker at station six.

Why the math fails in real life

150 g of protein is not hard on paper. It's hard on a Tuesday: morning session, full work day, commute, and the kitchen still expects you to cook a chicken breast at 9 pm. That's the meal most plans lose.

Make the hard meal the easy one

A HiPro Chicken Meal Box is one whole chicken breast — 37–40 g of protein per 180 g portion, depending on flavour. It goes freezer → microwave → eaten in under five minutes.

Two boxes on a training day is 74–80 g. That's half of an 80 kg athlete's daily target handled before you count breakfast, milk, eggs or dinner rice.
